Brewarrina Shire Council has launched a new Visit Brewarrina region tourism website, unveiling a powerful digital gateway into one of the most culturally significant places. The site marks a major step forward in showcasing the Shire’s cultural heritage, striking landscapes and unique outback experiences to travellers from across the country and beyond.
Building on the Visit Brewarrina Visitor Guide released last year, the website brings together the region’s most iconic attractions, including the 40-000-year-old National Heritage‑listed Baiame’s Ngunnhu, the Goodooga Artesian Baths, Four Mile Reserve, and other celebrated cultural and natural landmarks, in one accessible, visually rich platform.
The website also incorporates a What’s On Event Guide, giving visitors an easy way to explore upcoming events, cultural celebrations, workshops and seasonal activities across the Shire. This integration ensures travellers can plan their visit around the region’s vibrant community calendar, encouraging longer stays and deeper engagement with local culture.
General Manager David Kirby said the new website strengthens the region’s identity as a culturally significant and welcoming destination.
“Our region is one of the most remarkable places in Australia and holds one of the oldest human stories on Earth,” Mr Kirby said.
“People have been connected to this Country for more than 40,000 years. The Visit Brewarrina website is about sharing that story with respect, inviting travellers to understand the depth of culture here, the ingenuity of Baiame’s Ngunnhu, and the strength of the communities who continue to care for this place.”
The new website spotlights each of the five communities located in the Shire – Brewarrina, Goodooga, Weilmoringle, Gongolgon and Angledool – each offering its own history, cultural connections and natural wonders.

Mr Kirby said the website is part of Council’s broader strategy to support local businesses, elevate First Nations cultural tourism and grow visitation.
“Tourism is vital for regional communities,” he said.
“By strengthening our digital presence, we’re helping travellers stay longer, spend locally and connect more deeply with our region and its people.”
Locals and travellers alike can also pick up a copy of the Visit Brewarrina Visitor Guide, or access personalised advice, maps and recommendations and purchase merchandise at the Brewarrina Visitor Information & Exhibition Centre, located at 50 Bathurst Street.
