Responsible Pet Ownership

Owning a pet is both a privilege and a responsibility. At Brewarrina Shire, we aim to support and guide pet owners in providing the best care for their animals.

By law, all pet owners have a duty to ensure their animals are:

easily identified via collar, tags and registration
kept secure to prevent escape
under effective control and on a leash in public
kept from prohibited places such as food premises, schools and child care
minimise nuisance behaviour

Registration & Idenitfication

To keep our community safe and connected, all pets must be registered and microchipped. This not only helps in reuniting lost pets with their owners but also ensures the safety and health of our animal population.

Animal Welfare & Safety

We uphold a high standards of animal welfare and encourage our community to report any concerns regarding the treatment of animals. Our team works diligently to ensure that all companion animals are treated with the respect and care they deserve.
