Have Your Say on Brewarrina Shire’s 10-year Community Plan

Brewarrina Shire Council is inviting everyone across the community to get involved and have their say on shaping the future of the Shire through a new Community Strategic Plan (CSP). The CSP will set the direction for Brewarrina over the next decade, outlining the community’s shared vision and priorities for local services, infrastructure, jobs, housing, tourism, culture and more.

Brewarrina Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Tom Stanton said community input is pivotal to the plan, and it was vital residents, local business, community groups and young people across the whole Shire get involved.

“We want the Brewarrina Shire to be a place where our families can live well, where young people can stay and thrive, and where our culture and Country are respected and looked after. That’s what this plan is about,” said Councillor Stanton.

“This is YOUR plan. It’s your chance to tell us what matters to you, what needs fixing or improving, and what you want our towns and villages to look like in ten years’ time.

“Whether it’s better roads, support for youth, or new ways to honour and share our culture, we want your voice to guide the future.”

As part of the development of the plan, Council will be offering a range of opportunities to have a say and is encouraging the community to get involved. From pop-up events in Brewarrina and Goodooga, school sessions, key stakeholder meetings and an online survey—ensuring every town and village has the chance to be heard. Plus everyone who gets involved has the chance to win a gift voucher.

Brewarrina Shire Council General Manager David Kirby said the plan would reflect the unique strengths and challenges of the Shire’s rural and First Nations communities.

“We know the best ideas come from local people. This process is about listening carefully, capturing those insights, and putting forward a strong, shared direction that we can deliver on,” said Mr Kirby.

“Best of all, everyone who completes the survey, whether online or in person at the engagement sessions, can go in the draw to win a gift voucher,” added Mr Kirby.

As well as the drop-in events, Council will also be engaging directly with local schools, key stakeholders and local community groups. If you’d like to get involved for a one-on-one session, please contact breshire@brewarrina.nsw.gov.au and a Council team member will get in touch.

“If you can’t make one of the drop-in sessions across the week, you’ll still have an opportunity to have your say with our online survey open until the end of November or if you have more to add, just send us an email.

“The new CSP will guide Council planning, investment and advocacy through to 2035. It’s a roadmap for our future, and we can’t build that roadmap without your support. So please, get involved – come for chat, complete the survey and help us to build a thriving future for our region,” conclude Mr Kirby.
