Brewarrina Shire Council Celebrates Our People and Services

This week, August 3 – 9, Brewarrina Shire Council is celebrating Local Government Week — a statewide initiative that shines a light on the people, services and everyday work that keep our Shire strong, connected and thriving.

Throughout the week, Council is highlighting staff across a range of departments, sharing stories from behind the scenes, and showcasing the essential services that support residents year‑round. From road maintenance and youth programs to library services, waste management and community engagement, Local Government Week is offering a closer look at the breadth of work delivered across Brewarrina Shire.

Local Government Week is an opportunity to pause and acknowledge the contribution of the people who show up every day to serve the community. It also helps shine a light on the diversity of services councils provide — many of which go unseen but are relied upon by locals every single day.

General Manager David Kirby says the week is an important reminder of the role local government plays in shaping strong, resilient communities.

“Local Government Week is a reminder of the vital role councils play in the everyday lives of our communities. It’s a chance to pause and acknowledge the staff who show up, rain or shine, to keep our towns running, our roads safe, and our community spaces welcoming.”

Mr Kirby also thanks residents for engaging with Council’s activities throughout the week.
