On November 28, the entire Brewarrina Shire Council team came together for a day devoted to health, wellbeing and strengthening the connections that make our organisation what it is.
General Manager David Kirby opened the day with a powerful reminder of the exceptional work our teams continue to deliver highlighting the quality of our service, the pride we take in our roles and the commitment we show to our community.
What sets us apart is not just what we do, but how we do it which is together, with purpose, integrity and care.
We were joined by keynote speaker Paul Spinks from The Wake Up Call, who provided an insightful session on self-awareness, mental health and the importance of resilience in both life and work. There were so many easy and practical takeaways from Paul’s session.
The afternoon gave us a chance to put connection into practice through a series of team building activities, from light icebreakers to more structured group workshops. These sessions opened the door for honest, constructive conversations about our workplace values, what we’re doing well, what needs to shift, and how we can strengthen the way we work together.
As a collective, we explored what our values look like in action, how they guide our behaviour and decisions, and how we can build a culture that genuinely reflects who we are.
Throughout the day, we had the pleasure of Clem Bausiere capturing our moments and energy through his professional photography, and Retta Ferguson and Family kept us well fuelled with a delicious and healthy traditional lunch that the whole team thoroughly enjoyed.
What stood out most was the spirit in the room, colleagues nominating those who go the extra mile, celebrating each other’s contributions and recognising that strong teams build strong communities. We serve our community because we are our community, and the way we show up together reflects that every day.
A sincere thank you to every staff member who attended and participated so fully. Your support and commitment are what make days like this meaningful and what make our Council stronger.
