The Brewarrina Blizzard is on again NEXT WEEK!

A blizzard isn’t what you expect to encounter in one of the hottest and driest parts of NSW, but that’s exactly what’s blowing into Brewarrina next week.

The third annual Brewarrina Blizzard kicks off on Monday July 7, transforming the rural community into a winter wonderland all week long.

The 2025 Brewarrina Blizzard, with a full-size real ice rink, snow experience, food vendors and more, is on from Monday July 7 to Sunday July 13 offering visitors an unforgettable experience in the heart of the outback, and all completely free.

Brewarrina Shire Council General Manager David Kirby said he was very much looking forward to bringing the Brewarrina Blizzard back to town again this year, just in time for the school holidays.  

“All the final preparations are well underway. The lighting and signage is up, and all the equipment for the real ice rink gets trucked in from Sydney on Wednesday. It’s a huge effort!” said Mr Kirby.

“The team from Stars on Ice bring everything with them – the refrigeration unit, the rink, generators, skates, and then just add water! They essentially build a swimming pool and then freeze it. The whole process only takes a few days.

“As well as all the equipment, Stars on Ice also bring with them professional instructors and skating aids, perfect little penguin pals, to help skaters of all ages and experience levels master the ice.

“It truly is a magical, much-loved school holiday tradition, offering a rare opportunity to experience the joys of winter right here in our own backyard.”

The weeklong free festival will open daily from 10am to 8pm, with the lawns of the Brewarrina Visitor Information Centre transformed into a magnificent polar paradise. Visitors can pre-book their free hourly ice skate sessions online via 123tix.com.au. Walk-ins are welcome but limited.

As well as ice skating, the festival will feature a snow experience, variety of food and drink vendors, and fun and engaging places sit back and take in the scenes.
