Nestled by the banks of the Barwon River, Brewarrina and its surroundings is a popular destination for a variety of our outdoor activities and recreation, including swimming, fishing, bush walking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and boating.
Brewarrina is famous for its fishing. Known as the ‘Fishing Capital of the West’, the region is a mecca for fisherman from across the country, who drop a line in hoping to catch the coveted Murray Cod as well as Yellow Belly, Black Bream and Catfish. There are ample tranquil locations along the river, including Four Mile Reserve and the aptly named “Boat Ramp”.
Less than four miles from town, is a popular spot known as Four Mile Reserve, offering locals and travellers a tranquil and scenic place to enjoy an array of outdoor activities. There are plenty of quiet camping spots, a boat ramp and jetty, BBQ facilities as well as a toilet and cold shower.
Just off Bridge Road on the northern side of town is a spot locals refer to as the “Boat Ramp”. It’s a popular place for swimming, and launching a kayak or canoe, with spectacular views of the historic Old Barwon Bridge. The Boat Ramp has BBQ areas and picnic tables, public toilets and a floating jetty on the river.
