It was a big week of activities and events in Brewarrina last week as the community celebrated NAIDOC Week.
Brewarrina Shire Council General Manager David Kirby said it was wonderful to see so many from the community out and about celebrating this special week.
“It was an action-packed week of celebrations, from our community march down the main street, indigenous games at Memorial Park, works shops for sand art and weaving, cultural dance workshop and performances by the Brolga Dance Academy and much more,” said Mr Kirby.
“NAIDOC Week is such an important opportunity for not only our community, but the entire country, to learn more and celebrate First Nations culture and histories.
“This year’s theme ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud’, aimed to celebrate the unyielding spirit of our communities and invited all to stand in solidarity, and amplify the voices that have long been silenced, and I truly believe the Bre community achieved this, standing as one and celebrating our rich culture together,” said Mr Kirby.
